Trump calls for accused killer of Ukrainian refugee to receive death penalty
President Donald Trump called for the death penalty for the killer of 23-year-old Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska, who was fatally stabbed on a North Carolina train last month.
The president responded to the barbaric stabbing, purportedly carried out by suspect Decarlos Dejuan Brown Jr., 34, last month, demanding a “quick” trial.
“The ANIMAL who so violently killed the beautiful young lady from Ukraine, who came to America searching for peace and safety, should be given a ‘Quick’ (there is no doubt!) Trial, and only awarded THE DEATH PENALTY. There can be no other option!!! PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP,” the president wrote in a Truth Social post on Wednesday.
Brown, the suspect accused of stabbing Zarutska in the neck in an unprovoked stabbing on a public train, has since been charged with first-degree murder in North Carolina. If convicted, Brown could potentially face the death penalty.
Despite news outlets using terms such as “purported” and “alleged” for legal reasons, the Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) caught what appears to be Brown on film committing the violent act.
Earlier this week, President Trump also posted on Truth Social, blasting Democrat prosecutors and policies for allowing Brown to walk free on cashless bail “14 times.”
“The perpetrator was a well known career criminal, who had been previously arrested and released on CASHLESS BAIL in January, a total of 14 TIMES. What the hell was he doing riding the train, and walking the streets? Criminals like this need to be LOCKED UP,” Trump wrote.
“The blood of this innocent woman can literally be seen dripping from the killer’s knife, and now her blood is on the hands of the Democrats who refuse to put bad people in jail, including Former Disgraced Governor and ‘Wannabe Senator’ Roy Cooper. North Carolina, and every State, needs LAW AND ORDER, and only Republicans will deliver it!” he continued.
“Additionally, where is the outrage from the Mainstream Media on this horrible tragedy?”
The president blamed Democrats for their relaxed stance on crime and “catch and release” policies, asserting that these polices allow violent criminals to be released on cashless bail.
“For far too long, Americans have been forced to put up with Democrat run cities that set loose savage, bloodthirsty criminals to prey on innocent people. Really very, very innocent people. In every place they control, radical left judges, politicians, and activists. And they’ve adopted a policy of catch and release for thugs and killers,” Trump stated in the video posted on Tuesday.
President Trump continued, stating, “We saw the results of these policies when a 23-year-old woman who came here from Ukraine met her bloody end on a public train,” before holding up a picture of the moment before the suspect stabbed her repeatedly.
“She was slaughtered by a deranged monster who was roaming free after 14 prior arrests. We cannot allow a depraved criminal element of violent repeat offenders to continue spreading destruction and death throughout our country. We have to respond with force and strength. We have to be vicious, just like they are. It’s the only thing they understand,” Trump added.
