Hyndburn Council bosses are investigating after a dog’s body was dumped in Belthorn.
The body of a dog, which appears to be a Rottweiler, was dumped on the side of Belthorn Road last week.
The dog was still wearing its harness and collar and it did not appear to have any visible injuries.
The RSPCA has urged anyone with information to come forward.

A spokesperson for the council said the team has now collected the animal.
It will be scanned for a microchip in the hope of identifying the owner.
If this is possible, council bosses have vowed to “make every effort to contact them”.
A council spokesperson said: “We received a report regarding a deceased dog found on the road.
“A team was sent and has now collected the animal.
“As part of our standard procedure, we will scan the dog for a microchip in the hope of identifying the owner. If we are able to do so, we will make every effort to contact them.”
An RSPCA spokesperson said: “We’re really sorry to hear that a Rottweiler has been found in these circumstances and we’d urge anyone who is able to provide first-hand information about this incident to contact the RSPCA.”
