Russia makes worrying promise amid Iranian conflict with the US and Israel
US President Donald Trump declared that Iran and Israel had reached an agreement for a ceasefire, effectively concluding what he referred to as “THE 12 DAY WAR.” He commended both nations for their “stamina, courage, and intelligence” in resolving the conflict before it could escalate into a larger regional crisis. Trump urged both countries to adhere to the ceasefire, stressing that the war could have extended for years and caused devastation in the Middle East, but fortunately, it did not. This announcement followed closely after the US executed airstrikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities, marking a significant moment of de-escalation.
At the time of Trump’s ceasefire announcement, neither Israel nor Iran had publicly acknowledged the agreement. Reports suggested that Israel had not officially accepted the ceasefire, while Iran asserted that the peace was “imposed” upon Israel, despite Tehran’s own agreement. The situation remained ambiguous as contradictory statements emerged from both parties. This absence of clear confirmation contributed to the tension and confusion surrounding the delicate ceasefire.
In spite of the ceasefire declaration, Israel accused Iran of conducting further missile attacks. Israeli air defense systems were reportedly engaged in intercepting these threats, and civilians were advised to take shelter as the military prepared to take action. Iran has rejected any claims of involvement in the recent missile launches and cautioned that any additional acts of aggression would elicit a “decisive, firm, and timely response.” The Supreme National Security Council of the country highlighted the necessity of concluding the war while commending the unity and resilience exhibited by the Iranian populace. The military leadership of Iran reaffirmed their resolve to respond to any assaults, emphasizing the persistent volatility of the situation despite the declaration of a ceasefire.
