Jean-Pierre Blasts Democrat ‘Firing Squad’ For Kicking Biden Off Ticket

Former White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre expressed her thoughts on the “shocking” situation where leaders of the Democratic Party turned against then-President Joe Biden, ultimately pressuring him to withdraw from the race.

Now, just over 100 days into President Donald Trump’s second term, the Democratic Party continues to deal with the repercussions of the 2024 election. One of the most controversial moments during the campaign was the significant pressure from party leaders and key figures urging Biden to step down following his poor debate performance last June, as reported in a recent article.

During an event organized by the Institute of Politics at Harvard University, Jean-Pierre was invited to discuss the difficulties she encountered in the three weeks after the debate, leading up to Biden’s choice to withdraw, as well as whether he should have pursued reelection in the first place.

“He was the President of the United States at that time, he was the leader of the Democratic Party. It was genuinely his decision to make regarding his future, and I fully supported that. Whatever he decided, I was going to back that 100%,” she stated. “Because he had the authority to do so, as the leader of the Democratic Party emerging from a relatively successful midterm. There was an expectation of a red wave, but that did not materialize.”

The main challenge during those three weeks, she noted, stemmed from divisions within the Democratic Party itself.

“I… look, personally, I believe the most difficult aspect to witness during those three weeks was the disconnect I perceived between the leadership in the Democratic Party and the reality, as my former colleague, communications director Ben Labolt, described it, it was akin to a firing squad,” Jean-Pierre elaborated.

“I had never encountered anything like it before. I had never witnessed a party conduct themselves in such a manner, and it was both painful and disheartening to observe that unfold,” the former White House press secretary remarked. “A firing squad surrounding an individual whom I regard as a genuine patriot, someone who I believe has done everything within his power for this nation. A person who, as I previously stated, has accomplished more in a single term than most presidents have in two terms, achieving historical milestones, and I was taken aback by what I was witnessing.”

When questioned by another panelist, Jean-Pierre affirmed that she was alluding to Democratic leaders who had openly criticized Biden, underscoring how “astonishing” the situation was at that moment.

“Rather than uniting to genuinely collaborate and determine how we can preserve our democracy and combat the challenges, that is what I observed,” she expressed. “That was our course of action for three weeks, and, you know, it was indeed, indeed regrettable, and I believe it caused us more harm than many realized, to have engaged in that.”

On Friday, the House Oversight Committee summoned four senior officials from the Biden White House to provide testimony concerning the alleged concealment of the 46th president’s cognitive decline.

Former press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, who is penning a book about the “dysfunctional” government she served, received a summons, along with Biden’s last White House chief of staff, Jeff Zients.

Andrew Bates, Jean-Pierre’s deputy, and Ian Sams, spokesperson for the former White House counsel’s office, were also called in for interrogation.

“They disseminated these misleading talking points to progressive allies and the media, who contributed to the narrative that President Biden was capable of serving. As part of our thorough investigation into the cover-up of his cognitive deterioration and possibly unauthorized executive actions, we must hear from those who facilitated and supported this charade.”

On Tuesday, the panel scrutinized Biden’s former domestic policy advisor, Neera Tanden, who had previously worked as the former president’s advisor.
