TikTok Star Opens Up About Being ‘Trigender’ And What It Means

A TikToker who publicly came out as trigender in 2022 has taken the time to explain what this identity truly means to her and others who resonate with it.

Emily Skvarch, a popular content creator, first shared with her TikTok followers in 2022 that she identifies as trigender. Her announcement sparked conversations about lesser-known gender identities and brought attention to this specific experience.

However, this understanding of gender identity contrasts sharply with recent actions by former President Donald Trump, who has signed a controversial executive order that strictly recognizes only two genders—male and female.

The executive order, titled ‘Defending Women From Gender Ideology Extremism and Restoring Biological Truth to the Federal Government,’ declares: “It is the policy of the United States to recognize two sexes, male and female. These sexes are not changeable and are grounded in fundamental and incontrovertible reality.”As a result of this policy, transgender women can no longer be housed in female prisons. Additionally, the option to mark gender as ‘X’ on U.S. passports—available for non-binary and intersex individuals—has been eliminated under the directive.While these measures reinforce a binary view of gender, they have not deterred individuals like Emily from continuing to embrace their trigender identity. Policies may dictate official recognition, but they can’t change how people perceive or identify themselves.

Emily, who uses she, he, and they pronouns, recently revisited the topic of being trigender in a new TikTok video. This was prompted by her original 2022 video, which had resurfaced and sparked renewed attention and debate online.Addressing her followers in the updated clip, Emily remarked: “A little birdie told me that Facebook trumpets have come to my comment section yet again and it’s all based on that same two-and-a-half-year-old video of me first coming out on the internet.”

In the video, Emily stated: “Hi, I’m Emily and I go by any pronouns because I am trigender. Sort of like triangle, I am trigender: it means three,”She added: “I am a man, a woman, and non-binary, all at once [and] all the time.”

Expanding on her experience, Emily explained: “I would suppose that it’s similar to gender fluid and that you feel a range of gender, and for me I feel a large portion of that range at all times rather than flowing through that range like a gender fluid person would.”
