Actress Says Winds Aggravating CA Wildfires “Due to Climate Change”
Recently, Hollywood icon Barbara Streisand utilized social media to attribute the catastrophic wildfires in California, at least partially, to “climate change.” In the aftermath of the fires, which have ravaged tens of thousands of acres, destroyed numerous structures, and resulted in at least 16 fatalities, some individuals on the left have identified climate change as the primary cause.
In a post on BlueSky, a platform that has attracted liberals seeking refuge from Elon Musk’s promotion of free speech on X, Streisand asserted that the fierce winds fueling the fires might be a consequence of climate change. “These dreadful winds, I believe, are the most powerful we have ever encountered, and much of that is attributable to climate change, which the forthcoming government must address!” the actress stated.
Nevertheless, Streisand faced criticism in the comments section. One user remarked, “Why does a scientist appointed by Obama to the DOE during his administration disagree? If you consider the possibilities as outlined by this scientist, it could be enlightening: Steven Koonin.” Another comment expressed, “The incompetence of California’s leadership is astonishing. We all know you do not subscribe to the climate change hoax, and we understand why you are promoting this narrative.”
Others highlighted that strong winds in the area are not a recent occurrence. A contrasting remark stated, “The Santa Ana winds occur EVERY YEAR. The hills ignite EVERY YEAR. This has been happening for CENTURIES. Yet, let’s blame ‘climate change’ because spending money on illegal immigrants and pet projects takes precedence over THE SAFETY OF THE CITIZENS for Democrats.”
In recent days, Streisand has shared multiple posts regarding the ongoing natural disaster. “We will miss President Biden’s commitment and compassion during these challenging times. He understands that during a national crisis, we are united beyond political affiliations,” she stated, before criticizing Trump. “Trump shows no concern for California as he did not secure the electoral college votes here. We require a president who supports every state, not just the red ones!”
Offering her sympathies to those who have been compelled to evacuate or have lost everything, Streisand remarked, “I understand the fear and anxiety associated with evacuations and the uncertainty of what will happen to your home during a natural disaster. Some of my close friends and colleagues have tragically lost their homes. I am thankful for their safety and the incredibly courageous efforts of the LAFD. My heart aches for all my neighbors and our cherished city.”
Contrary to the dominant liberal perspective, individuals on the right have attributed the crisis to ineffective leadership in California. President-elect Donald Trump recently posted on Truth Social, “The fires continue to rage in L.A. The incompetent politicians have no clue how to extinguish them. Thousands of beautiful homes have been destroyed, and many more are at risk. There is devastation everywhere. This is one of the worst disasters in our nation’s history. They simply cannot control the fires. What is wrong with them?”
