My Mom Chose Dance Lessons Over Babysitting—It Felt Like a Betrayal
I’m beyond frustrated. My mom has always watched my kids—that’s just what she does.
My wife and I work full-time and rely on her, especially for the younger kids. Now she’s just tossing that responsibility aside so she can “enjoy life?”
What about our life?
Where am I supposed to find the money for a babysitter?
She’s retired—she has nothing else to do—so why does she think she can just quit being a grandmother whenever she feels like it? She raised me, and now it’s her job to help me raise my kids. That’s how family works.
I don’t understand how she can act this way.
Mom’s Response
Hi everyone, Mom here. I wasn’t planning to respond, but here we are.
I love my family, and I adore my grandkids. But let’s be clear—I am not a full-time, unpaid babysitter.
I spent decades raising my own children, and now that I finally have time to enjoy life, I refuse to spend my golden years stuck at home changing diapers and wiping snack crumbs.
