Farmers Divide Opinion With Their Bold Move To Remove Caravans
Farmers have sparked a mix of reactions online after taking a very direct approach to clearing people off land they were occupying.
Clips that have gone viral show a scene from a French farm where a large number of caravans had gathered. It’s being claimed that the group was on the land without permission.
In that kind of situation, some people might try to handle things politely, maybe even apologize while asking others to move along. It’s the kind of overly nice reaction many of us are known for.
Others might call in the authorities and hope they can take care of it.
But these farmers had a completely different approach. They decided to deal with it themselves — and if the videos are what they appear to be, their response was definitely on the messy side.
The incident, which reportedly took place earlier this summer, shows a group of tractors driving into the field and heading straight toward the caravans that were set up there.
One person is even seen climbing up onto one of the tractors, banging on the window and shouting, while the farmers continue without slowing down.
Someone else takes a fall as others try unsuccessfully to keep up with the moving vehicles, which are busy dumping large amounts of the liquid across the grass.
Yeah, it looks like what you’re thinking — local sources reported that the farmers were spraying liquid manure, also known as slurry, from their tanks.
It might not be the most conventional method, but it sure sends a strong message to anyone thinking about staying there.
Slurry is a foul-smelling mixture of cow waste and water that’s normally used as fertiliser to help crops grow. In this case, though, it was used to make the area so unpleasant that no one would want to hang around.
Apparently, this isn’t all that unusual in France — some farmers are known to use this method when they want people off their land.
