Mom with over 800 tattoos dubbed a freak
Melissa Sloan, recognized as Britain’s “most tattooed mother,” recently surprised the public by sharing a rare image of herself devoid of her characteristic ink. Having amassed over 800 tattoos in merely ten years, Sloan describes the experience as an addiction. “It’s akin to having a cigarette or a drink… I can’t stop,” she articulated.
With tattoo shops refusing her service, Sloan resorted to inking herself with a tattoo gun she keeps in her vehicle. For the past decade, she has been tattooing herself three times a week and confesses that she no longer recalls her appearance prior to this transformation.
As a test, Sloan applied £3 foundation to conceal her tattoos. The change astonished her two youngest sons—but not in the manner she anticipated. “They remarked, ‘Go back to your craziness, mum,’” she recounted. “It was as if they were gazing at a stranger.”
Her five older children, with whom she has no communication, are said to disapprove of her look. While some observers commended her unadorned appearance, Sloan maintains that she does not regret her tattoos, despite facing ridicule and being labeled a “freak” or “smurf” online.
According to her, the tattoos symbolize freedom and self-expression. “I enjoy being myself, and I will always remain true to who I am,” she asserted, emphasizing that she teaches her children that beauty manifests in various forms.
Sloan’s appearance has resulted in bans from bars and school functions and has greatly affected her job prospects. “I can’t secure employment,” she stated. “However, if someone were to offer me a job tomorrow, I would accept it.”
