Brazilian Tourist’s Final Instagram Post Sparks Outrage After She Fell In Active Volcano
After Brazilian traveler Juliana Marins died while stranded on Indonesia’s Mount Rinjani, her last Instagram post has turned into a tragic monument.
After slipping during a walk, 26-year-old Juliana found herself alone in a ravine for four days. A drone saw them alive, but assistance arrived too late. Before rescue crews could get to her, she died.
As friends and strangers lament her departure, her final post, which was shared before to the tragedy, is now filled with grief, incredulity, and hate.
Juliana’s final social media interaction with her friend makes the incident even more tragic
Juliana shared a serene carousel of selfies from her hike prior to the catastrophe. She was beaming, gleaming, and simply beaming with happiness.
Her short caption for the post read, “never try never fly.”
In the comments, a best friend wrote, “Goddess of my life. I’m not ready to exist without you around.”
Juliana replied playfully, “Friend, STOP!!!!! You’ll blink and I’ll be right back.”
But days later, after Juliana had gone silent, her friend returned with a heart-wrenching follow-up comment: “I just blinked, friend. Come back to me, come back?”
Since then, that comment has gone viral, reflecting the sadness that internet users experienced both inside and outside of Brazil.

Juliana was allegedly left behind by her guide and fellow hikers when she showed signs of fatigue
Since February, Juliana had been travelling alone by backpack across Asia, seeing places like Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines before reaching Indonesia.
On the island of Lombok, she chose to hike Mount Rinjani, an active volcano. The volcano is a well-liked yet dangerous trekking location.
During her group walk, Juliana started to exhibit symptoms of exhaustion, according to her relatives.
According to reports, the guide and her fellow hikers left her behind and proceeded to reach the peak without offering any assistance.
Later, Juliana slipped and plunged into a ravine more than 300 meters below.
She made it through the autumn, and a few hours later, tourists using a drone recorded her alive and pleading for assistance.
Her relatives in Brazil received the drone footage, which gave them some optimism that she would be saved. But sadly, that was not going to happen.
Juliana’s rescue proved difficult, and her family claims that they were misled
Despite the drone footage confirming Juliana’s survival, contradictory rumours quickly circulated online.
According to her family, the allegations that she was rescued and received nourishment were false.
“All the videos that were made are lies, including the one of the rescue team reaching her. The video was forged to look like that,” her sister Mariana told the media.
The Independent claims that dangerous terrain, increasing weather, and dense fog made it difficult for rescue crews to get to Juliana.
According to reports, Juliana was still alive when rescuers last saw her on Monday.
However, poor weather conditions apparently prompted the rescuers to retreat.
Grief about Juliana’s passing has turned to fury across social media
The timing of Juliana’s last days in particular has sparked a surge of internet fury.
“She asked for help. She screamed. And silence was all she received in response,” one post on X read.
“Juliana didn’t d*e in the fall. She d**d in abandonment. She fell from a cliff, was seen alive by drones, but spent days waiting for a rescue that never came,” another X user wrote.
“Juliana didn’t d*e in the fall, but in the void between profit and rescue,” another commenter stated.
In the last five years, Mount Rinjani has reportedly seen 180 injuries and eight deaths, according to G1. However, there is still a lack of control regarding rescue readiness for events involving tourists.
Manoel Marins, the father of Juliana, also bemoaned the slow response from Brazil’s consulate in Jakarta.
“She is a 26-year-old girl, a Brazilian citizen, and no one aside from family and friends cares,” he told TV Globo.
Juliana’s final post has become a digital vigil
Juliana’s Instagram has turned into a virtual shrine because to its abundance of photos documenting her travelling.
The comments continue to mount beneath her last post. Some are angry demands for accountability, while others are love notes from pals. A lot of them are from total strangers.
“In 26 years, you lived a much more complete life than most people will live in 100,” one commenter wrote.
“I’m crying and I never met you.”
“May you be in an enlightened place, full of peace, happiness and joy!” another stated.
But no comment captures the emotional devastation quite like the one from her friend: “I just blinked, friend. Come back?”
