Team Trump Responds After SCOTUS Allows Transgender Military Ban To Proceed

The U.S. Supreme Court permitted the implementation of the Trump administration’s ban on transgender individuals in the military, thereby nullifying a lower court’s injunction without addressing the overall merits of the policy.

This ruling represents a legal triumph for Trump, whose executive order prohibits transgender persons from serving openly in the armed forces. Justices Sotomayor, Kagan, and Jackson, who are aligned with liberal viewpoints, expressed their dissent. The administration contended that the ban enhances military readiness and cohesion, whereas critics argue that it is both discriminatory and unconstitutional. The case, Shilling v. United States, is still in progress and is one of several legal challenges against the policy.
