Lindsey Graham Says Whoever Leaked Intelligence Report Belongs In Jail
South Carolina Republican Senator Lindsey Graham is advocating for severe consequences for the individual responsible for leaking an intelligence report regarding the United States’ military operations in Iran, and he has a suspect in mind.
During an interview with Fox News host Jesse Watters on Thursday, the senator suggested that the leak likely originated from a member of the House or Senate serving on the intelligence committees due to their access to such reports.
“Currently, they are searching for the leaker. So, how does Congress fit into this? Initially, I thought it was someone from the Pentagon, but now it appears it could be a congressional member. Do they access it through a computer? How does this process work?” Watters inquired of Graham.
“Members of Congress on specific committees receive the report and the initial assessment. You can eliminate me from the list of potential leakers,” Graham replied with sarcasm.
“Noted, you are off the list,” Watters responded humorously.
“I am not promoting the narrative that this was a successful strike,” Graham stated. “This was destruction by the dictionary’s definition, and if you were present on the ground…” he continued before Watters interjected to ask him to clarify how intelligence reports function within Congress.
“Certain committees receive information regarding the initial assessment from the Defense Intelligence Agency. Someone leaked that assessment to imply that the operation was not as Trump described it,” the senator explained.
“There is a political agenda at play. You don’t need to be Sherlock Holmes to deduce this. It is someone aiming to undermine Trump. Could it be a member of Congress? Possibly. Regardless of your title, if you leak classified information, you should face imprisonment,” he asserted.
However, not everyone is persuaded that a Democrat was responsible for the leak.
Some individuals within President Donald Trump’s circle are speculating that Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard has placed herself “in the line of fire” as he seeks to identify the party responsible for leaking classified U.S. intelligence regarding the bombs deployed in Iran.
The days of intense opposition to reports from CNN and the New York Times indicate that Trump is more furious than usual about the leak of a study asserting that a dozen 30,000-pound “bunker buster” bombs failed to stop Iran’s nuclear enrichment program. He has directed blame towards members of Congress and asserted that the White House will reduce the frequency of briefings on military operations.
Sources who communicated with the Daily Mail revealed that Trump’s fixation on Gabbard suggests that some individuals he once trusted may be involved.
Gabbard was excluded from a briefing to Congress concerning the attack. According to Trump’s officials, Gabbard will not be present on Thursday when representatives present evidence that Operation Midnight Hammer led to the “total obliteration” of Iran’s three nuclear facilities.
Gabbard was slated to participate in the briefing alongside Secretary of State Marco Rubio, U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, and CIA Director John Ratcliffe.
“In the narrative of Trump, it is always crucial to identify someone to blame. There must always be a scapegoat. Tulsi is currently in the line of fire,” remarked Trump biographer Michael Wolff regarding Gabbard’s situation.
Wolff further stated: “An investigation is underway. They will attempt to assign blame. Within the White House, as of this morning, the individual being targeted is Tulsi.”
Despite Wolff’s interpretation of Gabbard’s circumstances, a source within the administration informed the outlet that the media is “exaggerating this situation.”
