Couple Charged After Dog Died on Hot Balcony
Nashville, TN – The intense heat of summer has arrived to much of the nation and neglected pets are paying the price. In Nashville, a dog left on an apartment balcony died from heatstroke on Saturday after being left in the intense heat, without any protection from the sun.
As reported by WKRN News, the dog’s owners, Dearick Pinkston and Lakendra Moore, are facing aggravated animal cruelty charges. The authorities said that the dog who died did not have any access to shade or water and had tried to chew through the balcony railing in a failed attempt to escape.
The couple each have a $10,000 bond; they are expected to appear in court on Tuesday.
It should go without saying, do not leave your pets outside during periods of extreme heat. If it is too hot for you, it is too hot for your pet. Always provide cold, fresh water and shade, and never tether a dog outside in the heat.
