Rescue Pleads for Help After Finding 50 Huskies on One Property

Navajo County, AZ – An Arizona Husky rescue group is pleading for help after discovering a property in Navajo County with a deluge of unaltered dogs. According to AZ Husky Rescue, Navajo County Animal Control visited this property three years ago and there were just 12 dogs there – fast forward to today and there are 50 dogs on the same property.

On Thursday, the organization said:

This is how quickly numbers can become extreme when breeding goes unchecked. The owners said they have given away and adopted out many dogs, yet they still have ~50 (we don’t even have an exact number) on property.

Explaining the desperate situation:

We called and spoke to animal control and learned there are only 3 officers for the entire county. They don’t have their own shelter facility. They contract with Holbrook’s shelter which is currently full – all 5 kennels that it has. Animals currently there would have to be euthanized to make room for these dogs – and even then, a 5-kennel shelter will not hold 50 dogs.

Outlining the various ways people can assist the dogs in need:

All of the dogs have been very friendly with each other and humans and no aggression has been seen! They do seem socialized!
WHAT WE NEED:
– FOSTERS!!! We are desperate. We have no open fosters and we want to take as many as we can. There is a whole litter of 16 week old puppies and many adults. Foster app: https://azhuskyrescue.com/foster/
– RESCUES: other rescues, we need you! There are too many for us to take alone, and quite a few mixed breeds from photos. We see several heelers and shepherds.
– DONATIONS: all dogs will need spay and neuter, vaccines, vet checks, possibly deworming, microchips, etc
– ADOPTERS: they will all need homes!
– SHARES: help this situation get exposure to reach more people!
