WATCH: Lights Cut Out after AOC Got Shouted Down, Roasted in Embarrassing NYC Town Hall Disaster

Although this significant event was recorded three years ago in 2022, the incident depicted remains pertinent to contemporary politics as it demonstrates that even in predominantly Democratic regions, ordinary Americans are frustrated with illegal immigration. In the intense footage, Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) faced a hostile crowd of her constituents who were outraged by the relocation of illegal immigrants to their city.

To provide context, the incident took place at The Variety Boys & Girls Club of Queens in Astoria, situated in the far-left district represented by AOC. The congresswoman, who organized the event to connect with her voters, encountered unexpected resistance when a fervent group of protesters chanted phrases such as “AOC has got to go” and ridiculed the New York Democrat.

Expressing their discontent, activists displayed signs and criticized AOC for her lenient crime policies. Cortez appeared flustered after a woman, brandishing a sign that read “AOC IS AN OBVIOUS CRIMINAL,” confronted her. Once she regained her composure, Rep. Cortez asserted that she “Had reduced crime by up to 50%,” and boasted about the number of psychologists recently employed in her district.

Heightening the tension, one protester lambasted AOC for her district’s LGBTQ+ shelters, which cater exclusively to sexual minorities. He questioned AOC, “So if I don’t have [gay relations], I don’t have a place to live?” Rep. Cortez offered a lackluster response before the crowd drowned her out.

As the chaotic scene drew to a close, the event organizers extinguished the lights and hurried the congresswoman out of the room. While the protesters continued to jeer at her, the Democrat was heard oddly asserting, “I’m not allowed to be in a room with the lights turned off.”

This is not the only instance of AOC facing public backlash. As previously reported, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez confronted protestors who approached her and her fiancé, Riley Roberts, in New York City, urging her to denounce Israel for “genocide.” A masked individual confronted the squad member, stating, “You refuse to label it as genocide. I need you to realize that this is unacceptable. It’s unacceptable that a genocide is occurring and you are not actively opposing it.”

The situation escalated into a heated exchange, with the heckler insisting, “It’s unacceptable that a genocide is occurring and you are not actively opposing it.” In response to the protester, AOC replied, “You’re lying,” before swiftly distancing herself from the altercation. Despite Ocasio-Cortez and her fiancé leaving the building, protestors trailed them onto the streets of NYC.
