WATCH: Rioters Attack NBC News Crew in LA, Destroy News Truck while Forcing Reporters to Flee for Their Safety
A disturbing video captures rioters assaulting one of NBC News’ remote broadcasting units amid a violent protest in Los Angeles, forcing the news crew members to seek safety in a stark illustration of the chaotic leftist unrest that has erupted in reaction to ICE’s raids.
To provide context, destructive protests erupted in Los Angeles, California, on June 6, 2025, following arrests made by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents, who reportedly detained highly dangerous criminals, as stated by President Trump’s border czar, Tom Homan. In a video shared on X, demonstrators can be seen rushing towards a vandalized NBC4 broadcast van, attempting to break its windows with skateboards.
Moreover, the destruction depicted in the video, which was uploaded on June 10, 2025, represents only a small portion of the widespread chaos that has plagued L.A. since June 6. Nevertheless, Karen Bass, the city’s progressive mayor, expressed support for the destructive protestors and rioters in a statement on X that criticized ICE agents for apprehending illegal immigrant criminals, asserting, “We will not stand for this.”
In her official statement on X, Mayor Bass remarked, “This morning, we received reports of federal immigration enforcement actions in multiple locations in Los Angeles. As Mayor of a proud city of immigrants, who contribute to our city in so many ways, I am deeply angered by what has taken place.” She further contended that ICE’s initiatives to arrest illegal immigrants “sow terror in our communities and disrupt the basic principles of safety in our city.”
Following Mayor Bass’s online statement, conservatives voiced their indignation in the comments, with MAGA influencer Paul A. Szypula stating, “You belong in jail for carelessly getting Angelenos k*lled in the wildfires you caused.” He further remarked, “Obstructing ICE should land you a life sentence.” Another commenter added, “You fight harder for illegals than for the victims of the fires.
Furthermore, border czar Tom Homan responded to the defense of the rioters by L.A. officials during an interview with Fox News, where he praised the courageous men and women of ICE, stating, “ICE removed numerous dangerous individuals from the streets that day. We apprehended a sexual predator, detained a gang member, and arrested someone with a conviction for armed robbery.” He continued, “Thus, we enhanced the safety of L.A. The personnel of ICE and the Border Patrol contributed to making L.A. safer on that occasion.”
Additionally, Homan remarked that while ICE agents had risked their lives to safeguard American citizens, the progressive media were neglecting to acknowledge their contributions. Homan expressed to Fox, “This information is not being reported. All that is broadcast is the narrative portraying ICE as racists, as Nazis, and as terrorists.”
In conjunction with Mayor Bass, California Governor Gavin Newsom, who has been a vocal critic of President Trump, stated that Homan “is threatening to arrest me for voicing my opinion,” adding, “I am unfazed. It will not deter me from advocating for California.” Nevertheless, the border czar informed CBS News, “That entire situation has been misconstrued,” clarifying that the Trump Administration had “no intentions” of arresting Gov. Newsom. “They have not crossed any boundaries yet,” Homan concluded.
