WATCH: GOP Senator Describes Clever Way Illegal Immigrants are Being Booted off Medicaid

GOP Senator Jon Husted made an appearance on Fox News to discuss the remarkable advantages of enacting President Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill,” which includes significant reforms to Medicaid, particularly focusing on how the legislation will prevent illegal immigrants from taking advantage of benefits meant for U.S. citizens.

For context, Sen. Jon Husted (R-OH) was featured on Fox News on June 29, 2025, to elaborate on the “One Big Beautiful Bill” and described how this extensive legislation will introduce “historic spending reforms” aimed at stopping illegal immigrants, as well as exploitative citizens, from misusing Medicaid benefits.

Notably, Sen. Husted’s appearance on Fox News coincided with a time when Senate Democrats had mandated a reading of the entire 940-page legislation on the Senate floor, a tactic initiated by Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), who criticized the bill as a mere publicity stunt.

During his segment on Fox News, Sen. Husted articulated that the “One Big Beautiful Bill” encompasses “historic spending reforms,” stating, “We’re going to see spending that will be reduced by approximately $1.5 trillion that would have otherwise contributed to additional debt.”

Furthermore, the senator clarified that the reforms would impact “aspects such as Medicaid,” adding, “If you’re a healthy adult without young children and you’re receiving these generous tax benefits, well, you know what? You’re going to have to work for those benefits.” He continued, “Illegals who are currently receiving Medicaid: you will no longer be eligible for those benefits. All of these measures contribute to long-term cost reductions and help decrease the deficit.”

According to media reports, Sen. Husted appeared on Fox News while the Senate was engaged in a forced reading of the complete “One Big Beautiful Bill,” a decision that Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer announced on X, stating, “I will object to Republicans proceeding with their Big, Ugly Bill without a full reading on the Senate floor.”

Continuing, the aging senator remarked, “Republicans will not disclose to America the contents of the bill. Therefore, Democrats are compelled to read it in its entirety on the Senate floor. We will remain here throughout the night if necessary to complete the reading.” In a follow-up statement, he reiterated his point, stating, “I have formally objected to the Republicans proceeding with their Big, Ugly Bill without first reading it on the Senate floor.”

On the same day that Senator Husted made an appearance on Fox News, the White House issued a press release titled “Myth vs. Fact” concerning the Big Beautiful Bill, which aimed to dispel the misconception that the bill “removes American families from Medicaid.” The White House asserted, “As the President has reiterated on numerous occasions, there will be no reductions to Medicaid. The One Big Beautiful Bill safeguards and enhances Medicaid for those who depend on it—pregnant women, children, seniors, individuals with disabilities, and low-income families—while also eliminating waste, fraud, and abuse.”
