Blue State Democrat Resigns in Disgrace after Calling for Violence against Trump

In a recently revealed series of posts on Facebook, Christine Paige, a Democrat elected in Potsdam, NY, advocated for the assassination of President Trump during the peak of the 2024 election. Following a significant backlash, she was compelled to resign, despite never retracting her statements.

To provide context, American politics has increasingly faced calls for violence from the far left. After Trump survived two unsuccessful assassination attempts, many conservatives have speculated whether there is more to these threats than mere rhetoric.

As reported by conservative influencer Libs of TikTok, Paige used her Facebook account to issue threats against President Trump. The New York Democrat wrote, “I have seen no credible proof that he’s a human being. Perhaps you possess information that we do not. To me, it would be similar to putting down a rabid dog.”

In her August 2, 2024 post, Libs of TikTok added context, stating, “Meet Christine Paige (D), an elected town board member in Potsdam, NY. She believes that Donald Trump being sh*t would be akin to ‘putting down a rabid dog.’ She subsequently referred to the critics’ response to her abhorrent comment as ‘foolishness.’”

According to local media, Supervisor Marty Miller, who oversees the Potsdam board, condemned her outrageous remarks. He stated, “The Board does not concur with the statement and denounces the comments made. This act of freedom of speech, as the Board member claims it to be, may have fulfilled their own needs; however, the repercussions have been detrimental to the integrity of this Board and the Community of Potsdam as a whole.

Expanding on this matter, Miller remarked, “I can personally attest that the selfish actions of one individual seeking satisfaction have created a nightmare for both myself and the rest of the Board over the past few weeks. The staff at the Town Hall has also had to endure numerous phone calls, voicemails, and emails, diverting us from our essential responsibilities as representatives of the Town of Potsdam,” he added, “The law prevents the Board from removing a member.

“In conclusion, the civic leader expressed, “I sincerely hope that the Potsdam Community, along with those who reacted to the statement or chose not to, do not hold this against the Board. I recognize that healing will take time, and I hope that time will repair some of the harm that has occurred.”

In a later tweet, Libs of TikTok disclosed that the contentious Democrat had stepped down due to immense pressure. She stated, “BREAKING UPDATE: Democrat NY Town Board Member Christine Paige has FINALLY RESIGNED after months of pressure following her appalling remarks after Trump was nearly assassinated. Goodbye 👋”

In the comments section, conservatives voiced their outrage.
