Doctor who tried to help Alex Pretti reveals shocking act ICE agents allegedly did after fatally shooting him

The streets of Minneapolis, already reeling from a month of unprecedented violence involving federal authorities, have become the backdrop for a harrowing new set of allegations. A physician who witnessed the fatal shooting of 37-year-old ICU nurse Alex Pretti this weekend has made a staggering claim in a federal court filing: that instead of administering life-saving first aid, federal agents stood over the dying man to “count his bullet wounds.”

This latest fatality comes less than a month after the January 7 killing of Renee Nicole Good, a 37-year-old mother shot by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent while attempting to drive away from a volatile scene. The death of Pretti, a U.S. citizen and healthcare professional, marks a grim escalation in the ongoing friction between the city’s residents and federal law enforcement.

The Escalation in the Twin Cities

For weeks, ICE agents have been a pervasive presence in Minneapolis, operating amid a climate of intense protest over the Trump administration’s aggressive crackdown on illegal immigration. Agents have been documented roaming the city, conducting sweeps for individuals they believe are present in the country without proper registration.

The incident that claimed Pretti’s life was captured from multiple camera angles, appearing to show the nurse being shot by agents after he had already been restrained. The footage has become a central pillar of the public outcry, contradicting the initial narrative provided by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

A Conflict of Narratives

In a move that mirrors their response to the Renee Good shooting—where officials labeled the deceased mother a “domestic terrorist” who used her vehicle as a weapon—the DHS was quick to issue a justification. The department claims the agent involved acted in self-defense, alleging that Pretti was in possession of a handgun at the time of the encounter.

However, the local law enforcement perspective offers a significant caveat. Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara has countered that Pretti is believed to have been a lawful gun owner with a valid permit to carry. Furthermore, at the time of this reporting, no evidence has surfaced to suggest Pretti intended to cause harm to federal officers—a point his grieving family has emphasized in a stinging public statement.

The Physician’s Testimony

The most damning evidence against the federal response comes from a witness identified as a physician, whose formal statement has now been filed in federal court. The doctor, who was present during the altercation, explicitly stated that Pretti did not brandish a weapon.

“I saw him yelling at the ICE agents, but I did not see him attack the agents or brandish a weapon of any kind,” the witness testified. “Suddenly, an ICE agent shoved him to the ground. My view of the altercation was partially obstructed, but after a few seconds, I saw at least four ICE agents point guns at the man. I then saw the agents shoot the man at least six or seven times.”

The physician attempted to intervene to provide emergency medical treatment, but described a scene of clinical indifference. According to the health expert, the agents ignored standard life-saving protocols.

“I was confused as to why the victim was on his side, because that is not standard practice,” the physician stated. “Checking for a pulse and administering CPR is standard practice. Instead of doing either of those things, the ICE agents appeared to be counting his bullet wounds.”

The Battle for the Truth

While Border Patrol officials have doubled down, claiming Pretti was attempting to “massacre law enforcement,” the family of the 37-year-old nurse is pleading for transparency. They have reached out to the public, begging for assistance in “getting the truth out” about their son, whose professional life was dedicated to the very care he was allegedly denied in his final moments.

As Minneapolis continues to grapple with the presence of federal tactical units, the death of Alex Pretti stands as a chilling reminder of the human cost of this domestic standoff.

Rest in peace, Alex Pretti.
